GOLDEN YEARS - Celebration Week

The excitment is building!

I first wrote about 50 Golden Years of Willow Wood Community Primary School in my June 2015 blog and now it is 3 weeks away!

Children and staff are working hard to prepare our week of celebrations. Willow Wood is a very special place to live and learn, to grow and thrive, and we hope that you will be able to come along and join in the fun activities many of which have been designed by the children.

GOLDEN YEARS - WALK  - FRIDAY 27^TH MAY – 10.30am

We want to make a noise about our Golden Years Celebrations and to ensure that everyone living in our community is aware that Willow Wood is 50 years old! 

On Friday 27^th May the whole school will be walking around our local area dressed in GOLDEN YEARS’ t-shirts so you may need to get your sunglasses out! Members of our community will be joining us and older pupils will be looking after younger pupils on the way. We will be delivering leaflets to our neighbours to let them know about all the fun that is planned for Celebration Week and how they can join in.

 

Family members are invited to join us and we plan to leave from the playground of the RAINBOW BUILDING at about 10.30am. We expect the walk to last up to an hour. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather by making sure they have a coat (if it is cool) and sunhat and sunscreen (if it is warm).

GOLDEN YEARS – FAMILY PICNIC – MONDAY 13^th JUNE – 12 noon

You are warmly invited to join us for this WOW beginning to our Golden Years week, which has been planned by the School Council.

 

The Councillors are hoping to see lots of families on picnic blankets on our school field enjoying their lunch together. Each class are preparing fun activities for family members to have a go at (not too wet!) Our Mid-day Assistants will be providing play activities from across the decades – we will all be experts at French Skipping and Two Ball by then!

 

Please bring something to sit on and food for your family. If you want your child to have a clever cat bag from school or to bring their packed lunch as normal that will be fine. There will be no hot dinners served that day. Please complete form below and return to the school office/class teacher.

 

We hope that you can come and join in the fun.

GOLDEN YEARS – REUNION – MONDAY 13^th JUNE – 5.00pm to 7.30pm

This event is for all former pupils, staff and governors. Please RSVP to the School Office.

 

GOLDEN YEARS – FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT – TUESDAY 14^th JUNE

It was the World Cup in 1966 when Willow Wood first opened its door to pupils. Mr Aspinall and Mr Shone are organizing a football tournament in honour of 50 years of Willow Wood!

 

GOLDEN YEARS – OPEN MORNING– WEDNESDAY 15^th JUNE – 9.00am to 10.30am

Everybody is welcome to come and visit our lovely school during the working day. You will be meeted, greeted and escorted around by our School Councillors and Y6 pupils.

GOLDEN YEARS – DECADES SINGALONG & DRESS UP DAY– FRIDAY 17^th JUNE

Each class will have a fun-filled session with the super-talented Matt Baker, singing songs from their decades. You are warmly invited to join your children for their session and to attend our WOW ending to our Golden Years week of celebrations from 3.15-4.15pm – Singalong through the decades. Let’s get together and mark the ending of our special week with smiles on our faces! This event will be free but you will need a ticket to get in, as places will be limited. Tickets will be available from the school office during Golden Years week.
