Y5/6 Football Team

Date: 14th Nov 2019 @ 7:45pm

After just returning from a fun packed and exhausting residential, Year 6 members of the football team demonstrated fantastic commitment in completing their final set of fixtures in the Winsford primary cluster football competition. The squad was buoyed by Louise's return from injury. Once again Willow Wood demonstrated excellent teamwork playing some fantastic passages of play with excellent passing and movement. Winning 3 (4-0,2-0 & 1-0) drawing another and losing one narrowly (0-0, 0-1).

Highlights included, Jeschry making some outstanding saves once again. Louise showed sound technical ability and accurate passing throughout; she also caused havoc with her menacingly long throw-ins, which were deployed in attack. Morgan B and Steven bossed the midfield in the attacking half (both scoring goals) while Josh helped breakdown the oppositions counter attacks with his relentless running, perseverance and tenacity. Equally as effective Lewis and Morgan performed with much energy and effort. Charlie (striker extraordinaire) and Max( star defender) are arguably the most improved footballers in the squad both learning to keep their respective positions and consistently linked the play well. Last but not least, Brandon performed solidly in defence and also entertained the spectators with his tekkers.  The whole squad have been fantastic ambassadors for Willow Wood and it was a privilege to observe such a positive team spirit from start to finish. After so many fixtures (P13 W9 D2 L2), we look forward to learning our final league position. Well done everyone!
