Stockley Farm

Stockley Farm

Wow, what a fantastic day we have had at Stockley farm. When we arrived we were taken to a barn to feed the baby goats. They were really cheeky and guzzled all of their milk. Then we were put into two groups. Group 1 went for a ride on a tractor and a nature trail, whilst group 2 went to feed the chickens and plant some grass seeds. We also had the chance to look and stroke the animals in the 'Pets corner'. We saw a rabbit and a rather smelly polecat called spud!

After that we all met together to eat our yummy packed lunches, we were hungry. Then something exciting happened in the barn next door. We could hear one of the cows making loud noises. So we popped our heads around and saw that she was giving birth. The lady was so excited that we were all there to see it happen that she said she would call the baby calf Willow! So we now have a school cow!

She also said that because it was a female that Willow would stay at the farm and become part of the dairy herd. So hopefully next year we will get to see Willow again.

After lunch we swapped groups. Unfortunately it started to rain whilst Mrs Coates' group trekked through the woodlands but that didn't put them off. Then we got on the coach and came back to school.

Mrs Wilcockson and I are so proud of all the children they were all fantastic and a credit to the school. Well done Acorns and Saplings!
