Dreaming with Determination!
Date: 17th Jan 2015 @ 12:55pm
School was a wonder to behold, on Friday, filled with doctors, nurses, website designers, teachers, vets, jockeys, footballers, singers, writers, dancers, mechanics etc. as we all celebrated 'Aspirations Day'.
This was our WOW start to the spring term whole school topic the, 'World of Work'. Thank you to the School Council for the idea and our children, families and staff for your support. I wonder what the WOW ending will be?
This term we will be helping children to build their dreams and to give them the skills to realize their ambitions. In this way children see the link between the skills they are learning in school and the skills they will need in the work place and to build successful lives.
‘Learning Today for Tomorrow!’
It is all very well to have dreams but we need to have the determination, motivation, resilience and capacity to work hard to make our dreams come true. In school we will be working together to improve a whole range of skills so our children can become literate, numerate and with a host of personal skills and characteristics so they can face the challenges of life with the determination to succeed.
As Sir Tim Brighouse states:
"There's nothing more important to a young person's learning than 'resilience'. Without it they will never be the people they could become. Teachers are always trying to find ways to help students build it."
