Life of a Headteacher!

The life of a Headteacher is rich and varied!
This week started off by welcoming the Mayor to school to celebrate, 'Local Democracy Week'. Councillor Gina Lewis spoke to the children in assembly about her role in local democracy and then she met with our School Council to discuss their role in giving our pupils a powerful voice in school.
In the afternoon I attended a conference in Ellesmere Port on how schools support disadvantaged pupils. We had been asked to present on our work at Willow Wood by the Local Authority. Mrs Harries, Family Worker and Mrs Sherratt, Therapeutic Nature Worker talked about their roles in supporting pupils and families to achieve their best and they did an amazing job - I was very proud of them!
On Wednesday I was with our fabulous Y6 Team on their residential in Wales, stumbling through the forest during the nightline experience and singing our hearts out around the campfire. Thanks to our amazing staff who made this visit such a worthwhile experience for the children - Mr Shone, Mrs Capper, Mrs Jessop, Mrs James and Mrs Millar.
On Friday I spent the day on some very worthwhile Governor training with our Chair of Governors, Sue Stretton and Vice Chair of Governors, Margaret Dolphin. It is great that our governors work so actively as part of the school team and promote the school vision of supporting and challenging Willow Wood to be the best school that it can be.
The week was rounded off on Friday night with a fun packed Bingo night and it was good to see family and 'Friends' enjoying this social occasion while raising money to support the education of our children.
As I say, there is never a dull moment at Willow Wood and I feel immensly priviledged to be your Headteacher!
