We encourage healthy behaviours in school, do not send energy drinks or similar, an alternative of water will be offered instead.

What....a coat, clearly labelled with their name.

When....everyday

Your child needs to get outdoors even for short periods in less desirable weather.

You can't have done nothing today......

Your child is not alone in saying this! Tired children are not always interested in sharing to begin with. Sometimes they simply forget! In time, as they as school becomes 'normal' they will share.

ENGLISH

We follow a scheme that teaches writing by hooking children into a text, followed by lots of repetition, use of visuals and high-quality teacher modelling. We become familiar with the language of stories and vocabulary associated with the differing genres of texts the book world has to offer! Most of all, we aim to instill our love of stories, books and reading, into our learners at Willow Wood.

Over the school year your child will hear a variety of traditional tales, modern stories and you may hear them talk about non-fiction texts. All of these are used to: enrich vocabulary, develop familiarity of story structure, to support memory and to develop learners who LOVE stories!

We begin the year with a classic by Julia Donaldson....The Gruffalo.
