Helping at Home!

Please read with your child every night at home to help them to become amazing, independent readers. Please log your child's reading in their yellow diary. Please aim to read 5 x per week to help them become fluent readers.

Our Home Learning this half term will be to access timestables.co.uk to practise our multiplication skills. There are games and tests on the site, which can be accessed from any device. In addition to this, weekly spellings will be sent out to practise at home.

Our Curriculum

English

This term in English, we will be exploring the enchanting picture book Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister. Through this magical story, pupils will develop their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and creative writing skills as they journey alongside Leon into a mysterious world of wonder and imagination.

Maths

In Maths this term, we will be revisiting Place Value in more detail which will include representing and partitioning numbers up to 10,000, Roman numerals and rounding. Before moving on to Addition and Subtraction of 4 digit numbers with and without exchanging.

In addition to our maths lessons, we will also be learning and practising our multiplication tables recall. Year 4 will complete their multiplication check towards the end of the year with the date TBC.

Science

This term in Science, Year 4 will be learning about electricity and discovering how it powers many of the devices we use every day. Pupils will investigate how electrical circuits work, identify the components needed to make a circuit, and explore what happens when changes are made to them. Through a range of practical investigations, children will develop their scientific enquiry skills while learning about conductors, insulators, switches, and electrical safety. We are looking forward to sparking curiosity and excitement as our young scientists explore this fascinating topic!

P.E

Children are to still come to school in their PE kit for the day they are doing PE. PE kit consists of black shorts/tracksuit bottoms/leggings, a red t-shirt, their school hoodie and black trainers/pumps. PE will be on Friday for both classes.

Swimming is happening from 7th September to the 9th October.

Cherry are swimming Monday and Wednesday

Elm are swimming Monday and Tuesday.
